Why do I need to add my Revenue Digital Certificate?

PAYE Modernisation has introduced two new processes - the automated retrieval of Revenue Payroll Notifications for each of your employees from Revenue and the submission of your payroll data each payroll run to Revenue.

For this two-way communication to take place between BrightPay and Revenue’s systems, your ROS digital certificate will be used.


Therefore, the computer that you run your payroll from will need to have your ROS Digital Certificate installed on it.


As a test, if you are currently able to log into ROS from that computer, then your digital certificate is already in place and can subsequently be added into BrightPay:

 

  • If you hold an employer certificate, click here for guidance on how you can add your digital certificate into the BrightPay software

  • If you hold an agent digital certificate, click here for guidance on how you can add your agent digital certificate into the BrightPay software




In the event that your digital certificate is not on the same machine as your payroll software, guidance is provided here on how you can move your certificate from one machine to another.
